Vertical Balers

Vertical Baler machines help you reduce waste, better!

A baler acts like a high capacity dustbin, allowing you to add massive amounts of waste which it will then turn into a neat bale for you to store.

Not only are vertical balers safer to use because they are either top or side loaded, baling your recycling will greatly reduce your business’ carbon footprint.

Safe, efficient and reliable. Reduce your output and become more profitable by implementing a world class vertical baler to manage your waste.

  • Mini Balers: BP3CD - BP4CD

Strautmann’s range of small balers are ideal for low-volume producers (5-40t per year) of recyclable materials like cardboard, polythene film and even general black bag waste.

With options from 3-4 tonne compaction force they make bales weighing 30-70kg, achieving up to 90% volume reduction.

The cost savings their use brings can be significant – imagine paying for only 1 bin or skip instead of 10 – how much would you save?

These machines facilitate recycling, reduce disposal costs, cut collection frequencies and so CO2 emissions, free up space, reduce time spent crushing boxes and ensure site tidiness and safety.

Materials: Cardboard, Paper, Plastics & Polythene Film.

  • BP6

The Balepress 6 is the mid-range choice for anyone looking for a relatively small baler that still retains the ability to significantly reduce the volume of waste held on premises. Utilising a 6 tonne press force, this model is capable of creating bale weights up to 80kg dependent on the material baled. What’s more, this model retains the ability to be easily moved around the premises like the Balepress 3 and 4CD models.

With a larger chamber size of 800 x 500mm this model can accept larger sheets or cardboard boxes and greater volumes of plastic films and other materials. This will allow you to reduce your time spent waiting between cycles and spend more time focusing on more important tasks.

Materials: Cardboard, Paper, Plastics, Polythene Film, Bulk Bags & Tetrapak Cartons.

  • BP10

Designed for small sites with big waste problems the BP10 baler packs a hefty punch.

With its small footprint and low headroom requirement, this baler can be located wherever your waste is generated, enabling you to deal with it at source.

Using 10 tonnes of compaction force, and with a large feed aperture, the BP10 makes bales of up to 120kg and is easy to load with bagged waste or recyclable materials such as cardboard, paper, polythene film, cans, plastic bottles and drums, etc.

A fast cycle time, auto cycle, auto full, bale eject, error diagnostics, patented design, low service costs and proven long life make this machine the perfect choice when you need a lot from a little.

  • BP53

Does your operation generate high volumes of cardboard waste?

Are you using 1100L bins, FEL/REL/roll-on-off skips or even static/portable compactors for your cardboard waste collections?

Would you like to be paid for your cardboard by the tonne rather than paying per uplift/exchange?

With a Strautmann BP53 you can easily bale, stack and store part or full loads (up to 24t) of cardboard to sell and so turn waste cost into profit!

No more waiting for your skip/compactor to be emptied, no more inefficient journeys to the skip, no more crushing or folding of difficult and bulky material, no more transport charges – just lots more recycling revenue from selling what you used to pay to throw away!

Vertical Balers Frequently Asked Questions

  • What type of materials can be baled using a vertical baler?

As the purpose of a baler is to make light work of large quantities of material and ultimately to save you money through the reduction of skip collections and the selling of bales, recyclable materials such as cardboard, plastic, fabrics, and PET are often considered to be most frequently used in the baling process. Although, each baler is different and accommodates different materials. It is wise to check the baler you’re looking at can handle the materials you intend to use it for and that it has the requisite capacity for the amount of material you need to dispose of.

  • What are the benefits of using a vertical baler?

The greatest benefits when it comes to the use of a vertical baler is the ability to reduce the amount of skip pickups needed, as well as the money saved through the selling of bales to recycling plants. Vertical balers tend to take up less floor space than horizontal balers and so become ideal for businesses whose floor space comes at a premium. Additional benefits of using a vertical baler range from time-saving when it comes to staff labour, to an overall reduction of CO2 emissions and energy expenditure which lessens the impact on the environment.

  • How much space is required for a vertical baling machine?

Depending on which baler you choose, you may need to make some space when deciding where to have it placed. That said, most of our vertical balers take up less than two square meters of floor space – though it will depend on which baler model you procure. All of the pages for baling machines on our site have technical specifications that measure the floor space they will take up in millimeters.

  • What safety features should be considered when using a vertical baling machine?

It is always important to know how to use your baler. You should ensure you and your staff have read the manual and have familiarized yourselves with how the baler works, how to power it on and off, how to load it and unload it safely. Whilst in operation a baler will have its door closed so no accidents occur, such as getting clothing or body parts trapped in the mechanism. Although this will stop accidents of this nature occurring, it is still good practice to keep hands away from the baler when it’s in operation.

  • How do you maintain a vertical baling machine?

There are many important processes to observe when it comes to the maintenance of a vertical baling machine. You should regularly ensure it stays in prime condition through regular cleaning and inspections: look for signs of wear and tear or damage that could require repair.
You should also take care to lubricate the moving parts when needed to reduce the risk of a breakdown or harsh grinding.
Other maintenance tips to keep in mind could be to inspect the hydraulics when needed, along with the tensions settings, and of course make sure that all staff using the baler are properly trained in its operation so as to prevent unnecessary breakdowns.

  • How do you select the right vertical baler for your needs?

Our website has a selection of various vertical balers. The right baler for you will be a matter of specifications and overall need. You should ask yourself what you need a baler for, what materials you’re recycling, how much space you have on your business’ premises to house a baler, and what your budget is. Luckily, we have a filtering feature on our site so you can go into detail with your search and find the best baler for you.

  • What are the costs associated with purchasing and operating a vertical baler?

When acquiring a vertical baler, you should think of it more as an investment than an outright purchase. The purpose of any baler, more than the reduction of waste, is the opportunity to save money on skip pickups and from selling whole bales of recycled waste on to recycling plants. In terms of associated costs past these factors, after the initial acquisition, it can cost a bit more in installation fees and transport, depending on the complexity of the machine. After this, the only costs that tend to factor in are to do with maintenance and repair, but if your baler is kept in the best condition, these tend not to be much of a regular expense.
